Hi all,

We're looking to implement IAG as a secure gateway from the Internet to an internal Sharepoint area for collaboration purposes.

As I'm new to IAG, I'm unclear on how IAG integrates with ISA 2006. As I understand it, IAG 2007 ships with ISA 2006 (regardless of whether it's appliance based or not). Therefore, can the ISA and IAG elements be installed on separate servers with rules set up to establish connectivity? Is the ISA element absolutely necessary?

Also, can IAG 2007 work with ISA 2006 Enterprise; should we wish to expand to an ISA array in the future, we would require Enterprise Edition?

Thanks in advance,

Mital

Hi Mital,

ISA Server is installed with IAG in order to provide firewall protection to the gateway itself and not as a fully featured ISA Server instance.

Technically you can mess about with ISA underneath IAG, but it then becomes an issue of supportability from Microsoft or your IAG hardware vendor of choice if things start to go wrong.

The new version of IAG, called UAG, runs the new version of ISA, called TMG. For this version, MS has provided the following statement of supportability which may help set the scene:

http://technet.microsoft...s/library/ee522953.aspx

In most scenarios, you will need independent deployments of ISA/TMG and IAG/UAG to provide the full feature set of both products...

Cheers
